Shanna
Until she was 22, Shanna basically didn’t cook. Food came from restaurants or perhaps, if she was feeling domestic, from a freezer case or a box. One day, something clicked - she stepped away from the boxed mac and cheese and take-out menus and cracked her first cookbook. Having grown up with decidedly American dishes, Shanna was amazed when she moved to Chicago and discovered Indian, Ethiopian, and authentic Mexican food. She enjoys experimenting with new twists on treasured childhood recipes, creating healthier versions of foods she loves to eat, and testing out new recipes on her usually-willing friends.

Benjamin
Benjamin grew up with a brother who later went on to be a chef, who cooked in the absence of their mother (who did not like to cook), so therefore never learned to cook, really, until he moved into an apartment all by himself. 20 lbs and several dozen boxes of Minute Rice later, he decided to do something about the situation. Since then, he has become acclaimed for his award-winning* chili, his adroit steaming of broccoli, and an approach to pan-frying a fish which has been described by words ranging from “hazardous” to “really hazardous.” With only three or four grease fires under his belt, Benjamin is confident his eyebrow will grow back. Someday.
